Really who knew a little over two years ago I would be giving birth to a modern day ninja! And let me tell you the intiation is enough to kill you. Well as most of my 5 followers know last monday Rocky was admitted to UNMH for what is called kawasaki's disease. I was freaked out when Dr. Gallegos told me that I'm like disease! everyone in a 500 mile radius then googled it we probably raised its google factor up 100%. So before I get a head of myself I will start from the beginning.
This is rocky when we first entered the hospital looking back I had no idea he looked this sick.
This was after he was examined and we were awaiting the treaded IV it took 5 times. My big boy did so good though.
Continuation from the hive story. So rocky broke out in bad hives but through change of meds and lots of showers I had felt that he was getting better. He originally had bloodshot eyes and that seemed to go down to a pink color and his chapped lips beck and I felt were getting better with constant supervision. Well monday came and I was trying to decided if I felt it was right to have rocky go back to the doctor so I decided to call of course I left a message antispating that I would be here from a nurse and then Dr. Gallegos called personally we discussed this weekends events and he decided to have me come in and kinda said that he thought it was kawasaki's. I called beckett and he was working in the library on campus and had no signal so I was getting CRAZY! so I called his boss and then started to cry on the phone and then 1 minute later beck was on the phone and headed our way.
When we got there we were seen right away and Dr. Gallegos examined rocky and showed us some pictures of other kids in a medical journal that had kawasaki's and we all decided that was what he had. He called UNMH to get us a bed so we did have to wait in ER for all night and by the end of monday We were in the hospital for a 4 day 3 night stay.
In short Kawasaki's is a disease that only effects kids under 5 and is not contagous or heritary and they don't exactly know how you get it. one dr said they think its like a viral infection. It's where your anitbodies start attacking everything. We are treated with IVIG (cousin to a blood transfusion) that takes 8-12 hours to take through an IV. Antibiotics and High Doses of asprin. It takes 6-7weeks for them to truly be cured. only 2% of childs with the disease are effected by it again and it can cause some heart problems so we will be make in july for a cardiograph to see if there was any.
just after the IV watching some tv and loving melmo
It was really hard to go through not being able to console your child. me holding his arms and head beckett his feet and proceeding to give him his meds or the IV. Him just sitting in his bed for a good 20 hours out of the day because he was so sick. I am grateful for Rocky he is so good. As you all know he has been potty training since the week before his birthday May one. And while we were there in the middle of the night he would say momma poo poo pee pee and then go to the bathroom. What an awesome little boy I made.
I asked our nurse if he could be off the IV for like 10 minutes so he could walk around on day 2

I asked our nurse if he could be off the IV for like 10 minutes so he could walk around on day 2The nurse thought he was hilarious because just at the sight of them he would start growling at them or he would say NO HI when they came in. But over all I think they all thought he was super cute. Child life is a place where the hospitals kids can play with toys and go outside so on our last day rock and I spent alot of time there.
Day 4 this is at petes playground at the childs life at UNM we spent lots of time there.
He is not 100% yet but I would say he probably 89% and increasing everyday. It was rough and hard at times but now I have a true ninja! hiya! Enjoy the montage...

In the end I'm super thankful for all the hospital staff that treated rock and that he turned out healthly and they knew how to treat him. But I am super duper thankful for or ped's dr Dr. Gallegos he knew what it was right away and took care of us and even called me the day after he were admitted to see how Rockwell was doing. Post in the future will be of a hilarious health happy Rocky!
P.S. on day three he went a little insane and I had a mental breakdown I had not left the hospital til he left and we were both stressed so when my mom came to help I told her he had jungle fever. What can I say I was going insane.
Always.
Lami
